A Fundraiser That Gives Hope
See & Taste Belize
In 2017, the Honorary Consular General of Belize in Florida, Mrs. Janine Sylvestre, partnered with the Office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children to organize the See & Taste Belize Festival in Miami, Florida in a continued effort to raise funds for the sustainability of the Inspiration Center. The 2017 festival was the second of its kind; the first taking place in 2015 to raise funds toward the completion of the Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
The Festival provides the Belizean diaspora with an opportunity to journey back home through the sights and tastes of Belize. It also offers the Belize Tourism Board an opportunity to promote Belize and a platform for local entrepreneurs and organizations to showcase their products to an international audience.
The Office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children also collaborated with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), the National Institute for Culture and History (NICH), the Family Coppola Hideaways, and Beltraide in the successful execution of this event, which raised a significant percentage of the yearly operational cost of the Inspiration Center.
