Another event that was held under the 20,000 STRONG Women’s Empowerment Campaign in August 2014, was a National Conference on Financial Health of Women and Girls’ in Belize. The purpose of this event was to highlight the importance of women’s financial independence to the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The situation of women entrepreneurs throughout the country was highlighted through the event, which saw the participation of aspiring, emerging and successful entrepreneurs. Information gathered from activities at the conference was used to create a foundation for an economic empowerment program to provide technical and financial support to women entrepreneurs.

 

The 20,000 STRONG Marketplace, which showcased the work of several female entrepreneurs, was one of the major highlights of this conference.
