Distribution during COVID-19

Special Envoy’s Hygiene Kits

With women and children struggling throughout Belize as a result of COVID-19, the Special Envoy for Women and Children, Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, has donated 300 hygiene kits to the Department of Human Services under the Ministry of Human Development on May 11, 2020, as a form of hygienic care and assistance.

Understanding the struggle many women and mothers are experiencing in accessing the basic essential hygienic products for themselves and their families, the hygiene kits will be distributed to households in rural communities, particularly women with young children, who are urgently in need of our support.

The packages were received by Mrs. Lliani Arthurs, Director of the Department of Human Services on behalf of the Ministry of Human Development and were handed over by Ms. Perla Hinojosa and Ms. Sitnah Blease from the Office of Special Envoy for Women and Children.

The Office of the Special Envoy hopes that they were able to assist the many women and children who are in need and would like to remind everyone to continue practicing the precautionary measures that were set in place such as staying at home and only leaving when necessary, engaging in social and physical distancing, wearing masks when leaving your homes, and continuously washing your hands.

Remember that being cautious, healthy, and safe is the only way to prevent more positive COVID-19 cases.
